Straight Butted tobacco leaves are processed by hand. All the stem is removed by hand leaving just lamina (leaf) that is hand strip tobacco.
Straight Butted Leaf involves conditioning tobacco with heat and moisture, mainly steam so that it becomes pliable enough to enter the threshers. It involves cutting the lamina
of the leaf away from the stem with a machine thresher which produces small pieces of the lamina.
